The Radio City Christmas Spectacular plays at Radio City Music Hall (•) in Midtown Manhattan.
This is a part of the Rockefeller Center complex, adjacent to 5th Ave shopping, the famed skating rink, and "Top of the Rock". It's also a brief walk from Central Park or Times Square.
Many of the nearby restaurants are semi-formal and cater towards the business crowd. For pre-dining options it's best to be picky around this area.
Update: Your pre-show dinner is at Rock Center Cafe. This is in the same complex as Radio City so it's practically next door. Follow signs to get from the restaurant to the theater.

Another really good (and finer) restaurant is the Bar Room at the MoMA. It's just three blocks away on 53rd St. Or if you're up for it you'll find some more options around 57th Street.

Avenue Q

Avenue Q plays at New World Stages (•) in Midtown Manhattan.
This is at the northwest edge of Times Square, a very central area with an endless offering of shops, restaurants, and activity. It's convenient to anywhere else in Midtown.
Most nearby restaurants have pre-theater specials. Many of the better restaurants are on the side streets (the numbered streets) west of Broadway. 9th Avenue in particular has a number of good restaurant options (see the Dining chapter for details).
