Topic: "Show suggestions"
Mark, what kind of shows are you thinking about?
- Greg, Tuesday Dec 8, 9:51 AM
Lauren wants to see the Christmas Spectactular, so we'll get tickets for that. We'll probably see one other show, thinking Wicked or Jersey Boys, really not sure. I guess something fun and not too serious. What do you think?

Also, you can get discount tickets to shows, right? Should we do this? How does this work? Or should we get reservations normally?

Some top shows on Broadway right now are Avenue Q (puppets in New York, adult comedy) and In the Heights (a new, highly regarded musical about the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights).

There's also Wintuk, a December-only seasonal production by Cirque du Soleil. If you've never been to one of their shows it's an absolute visual spectacle.

As for tickets, the TKTS booth in Times Square is the main way to get discount (half-price) tickets. Basically, you wait in a huge line and get same-day tickets for whatever shows have extra tickets for the day. It's a great service, but it takes a long time and there's no guarantee you'll find a show you're interested in.

So you have to determine whether it's worth the extra time and uncertainty for the cost savings. It's also probably going to be harder to find last-minute tickets over the New Year's period.

Ok, we decided to reserve tickets in advance. We've got Avenue Q tickets for Wednesday, Dec. 30th at 8 PM and Christmas Spectacular tickets for Monday Dec. 28th at 8 PM. Adding them to the itinerary...
